DIRECTIONS TO CAJA DEL RIO/HQ Well FIXTURE:
(Note, if you put "Headquarters Well, Santa Fe, NM" into Google Maps, it will find it. . .)
From south of town.
Going north on I25 from Abq, exit onto 599 (bypass, relief route) and go through the first light soon after getting on 599, then proceed about 3 miles to the second light (Airport Road). Go through this light, staying on 599. Go 2.5 miles to the South Meadows Road interchange with a sign for Caja del Rio Land fill and Co. Road 62.
Take this South Meadows Road exit around the traffic circle, carry on over the overpass, and make a second left off the next traffic circle immediately onto the 599 frontage road (Co. Road 62) (heading back opposite of the way you were just traveling on 599, if you came from south of town).
Follow this frontage road 1.6 miles to a right turn at the sign that says Caja del Rio land fill, animal shelter, etc.
Take Caja Del Rio Road, 2.7 miles past all the recreation, landfill and shelter signs, go on up a hill, where you go under big, high-power lines. You will know these big towers as they are a brown rusted metal.
Just a few yards after going under the power lines, slow down, and prepare to take the FIRST LEFT. There's a sign that notes you're once again on County Rd 62, which becomes dirt/gravel pretty quickly.
You'll pass a gate on your left with a giant metal arrow on it, and in 1.2 miles, (just past a cattle guard) is a left turnoff over a culvert, look for the picnic area metal roof and camping toilet facility.
Note: dirt roads can be deeply rutted, do not bring low-clearance vehicles in.
From north of town:
Going south on 285, take the 599 bypass (relief route) to the South Meadows Road interchange for "County Land Fill" and Route 62. follow directions as above.
