For as long as I can remember, i have been horse crazy. Good news was my mom was too so when i turned 7 she and took riding lessons near our home in Columbus OH. Geogean was born in Longmont CO and grew up in Idaho and Montana where her dad Thurman Smith managed large sugar beet farms. Lots of Indian ponies for her to ride then.
School and other pursuits drew my attention until the Spring of 1968 when my dad and I visited Colorado Trails Ranch for a two week vacation. The week prior to our arrival one of the wranglers broke his leg and I became an overnight member of the ranch. Returned for a second season in 1969
Fast forward to 2009 and toward the end of a career with NBBJ the global architecture firm where I was one of the global to to guys for major planning projects. looking to less travel and more leisure, you guessed it, back in the saddle again. After a year of lessons in hunt seat, I joined Rocky Fork Headley Hunnt and in 2010 purchased my first very own horse, Lyle an OTTB
We enjoy riding in first field, helping staff with hound walking and going crazy fast at the numerous hunter paces in Central Ohio.
I am looking forward to getting to know the Caza Ladrone Hunt membership better and helping build our great club. Will splitting time between Columbus and Santa Fe starting this year!
